Remember Well

Yesterday, a thousand years and more
thousand years regret or praise
library shelves argue and quarrel
sagging burden of truth and lie
dust entangled, maserating bookworms
with nothing better than  to stay
in dank  dark halls and oak  rooms,
while suns proclaim tomorrow’s dawn
a thousand years and maybe more for
delight or destruction remembering
those  years of long ago.
Murmurs soon to fade waning
beneath dusts of misunderstanding ,
yesterday's memories to  feed our minds,
Food for thought once wasted, lay the linen,
knives, fork, napkin and digest, see the candle,
its friendly light, shadows of the past
flicker on curtains as dawn shines through
the future beckoning  day ,yesterday
a thousand years, memory spent
Tomorrow near and yet a thousand more.
