The end of the World

I wonder sometimes about the end of the world
Will some madman finally say screw it and push their red button?
Or will a rock the size of a mountain let’s say
Come out of the sky and throw us into that kind of nuclear winter?
If either is coming I hope I’m at ground zero
I don’t think I’d make a very good caveman
I can’t breathe so I can’t run
And I can’t run anyway because my back is filled with pain
I can’t catch the last of the dinners
Here kitty kitty
No thanks, hit me with your best shot
Send my molecules out into space, higher than gravity’s pull
So that I might float in space
Without the need for lungs to breathe
And without the need for a strong enough back to motivate my legs
Just DNA looking for some primordial stew
So I can grow up again
And not make the same mistakes I made this time around
And maybe the time in space might screw my DNA just enough to save me
From the life I live today
And from the ooze I can come
Better
