Couple of Mutes
A stampede of thoughts crash into my mouth,
holding my tongue down; leaving me in silence.
I search through the jumble of words in my brain,
unable to pick the right words to speak with.
In frustration I claw the exterior of my arms,
holding back the sad song of my eyes.
You quash the anger charging at me from your lips,
slumping into your computer chair and huffing.
As hours pass, the whisper of nothing becomes darker,
the distance between us is like a pit of stakes.
Anger evaporates and the air seems less static,
I keep glancing over at you but you are blind to me.
In muteness I sit alone on the floor,
longing for you to embrace me like before.
