Surrender the Phantom
Wait, wait a day, again, one more, eternal Déjà Vu
Change but the angle of motionless shadows
Seasons rise and fall in circular sacrifice to sparring gods
What god survives to observe the surrender to this ache?
Defenseless to conclude the assault of perpetuity
What secret waits to release the haunting apparition?
The reeking mist of decay concealed beneath still living flesh
Long since departed, the specter flaunts his camouflage
The pointless ruse is pointed out from within its beating heart
Beaten into silence by a spirit existing in the past
A past when hope held the hand of one that held life with piety
But all a dream is all it was, a mere phantom dies in misery
