The Children of Yesterday
Halloween that time of year
When children go out at night lacking fear,
Their parents are happy and so are their kids,
Nothing that bothers and nothing that sits,
On the corner of the street,
A little boy with no longer a heartbeat sobs alone,
He’s weeping, looking at the brutal mess that laid beneath him,
The knife that touched his heart lay next to his scarred face,
Waiting to strike and taste the sweet blood again,
The sound of laughter invading his head ,
That sound of trick or treat made his vision go red,
He picks up the knife and hides again waiting for a victim,
A pretty little girl skips along,
Oblivious as to what is wrong,
Scarlet blood streams down her head towards her little ballet flats,
