Back To September
Take me back to September
I was desired then
In the days of early autumn
I was pursued and watched
Knowing you were out there
Waiting for your moment
To consume me
Take me back to September
When you brought your gifts to me
When my I eyes were opened
And I finally knew
You were no one
I should fear
And everyone I should beware
Take me back to the nights of sweet discovery
The honest open flying of a soul
Meant to take her wings
To who I was instead of the nothing
I am now
Let me breathe for just one moment
The sweet air of your desire
And know that it was for me
Take me back to September
Let me stand beneath the yellow moon
Chanting rhymes into the stars and
Knowing they would somehow reach your ears
Let me drift to sleep knowing that
I am wanted and that you are always near
When my dreams were whole and shining things
And I believed every word you said
Take me back and let me cherish this time
I know how short it will be
And I don’t want to miss a moment.
