Questions of the Heart (Version 2)
Why does every single smile,
also invoke a tear?
Why does the feeling of exile,
dim thoughts that I hold dear?
Why that with every day of sun,
comes a thousand days of rain?
When will misery finally be done,
and I be absolved of my pain?
When can I call joy my own,
and know the feeling of peace?
When will my heart finally atone,
so that my agony may cease?
What is it that I must do,
so that serenity can be mine?
I am guessing that it must be true...
this heart was never meant to shine.
