Upon Night’s Seas
- Upon Night’s Seas -
In the night, in the embrace of shadow,
As the stars rise and the blue of daylight…
Of the skies that adorn hill and meadow,
Fades like a dying flower from all sight…
Mortal eyes see only part of this miracle.
Few there are who may look just beyond,
To see what the night stirs in deep hearts!
The yearnings for embraces and for song,
Which beckon to us from within the dark.
Such stirring, even when the night is still!
The eye within sees more than is evident,
To senses trapped in matrixes of limitation.
Let us dance; become my lovely celebrant,
Whilst I take thee far beyond any initiation!
The music plays, the moon bears witness,
For I am the darkness, I am night’s mistress!
Crickets and night birds call with fervor,
Singing songs of the night, to be savored…
Even whilst some look to the dark in fear,
Trying oft to will prayers to be answered…
Knowing not the divinity that is listening.
Few there are who may know of comfort,
Whilst held by the night with warm arms!
By what means, doth the night transport…
The spirit to ecstasy with its’ mad charms?
Who can say, amidst starlight’s glistening!
The flower of night blooms ever sweetest,
When shadows paint gardens, on the walls.
There, an ivy and a rose may grow prettiest,
Embraced by shadows, within night’s halls!
The music plays, the moon watches above,
For I am the black rose, of passion and love!
Mine eyes, hath seen night’s full visage,
As untainted by the sun’s pale imitation…
Unveiled, like the truth beyond a mirage,
Which may be seen through illumination…
A glory beyond: mundane heavenly ideas.
Love for a beautiful maiden, such desires,
Like fire burn and blaze in evening hours!
I am set alight, unmarred by hottest fires…
For fire and night are facets of my powers.
Sail beside me this eve, upon night’s seas!
I prepare a place upon the evening’s waters,
Where those kindred to myself may be free.
I was the first of night’s chosen daughters…

A deep and beautiful poem that every word is another poem come to life. There are many ways I can go about and how amazing and marvelous poem I come to love once again. That the meaning in this poem is pure and beautiful. Oh, must I confess, that this poem suits the picture so wonderfully :) Wonderful job, as always, Dearest Jess ^^
I am very pleased that you liked it, Lilly. The ivy in the poem is meant to be Zoey, just as the black rose in the poem is meant to be me. I knew you would love it though, even as I penned it, and it delights me beyond words to see that you do! I always strive to capture a certain degree of magic, and love, in such poetry… and when everything comes together just right, along with a good illustration for it to really make things shine, then the magic and the love becomes even more beautiful since it harmonizes with the verses and the image to weave a splendidly blissful enchantment. One it is a joy for me to share! :D

You are very perceptive, dear Grace! That part is indeed quite along the lines of that very meaning, and my dear Zoey perceived it in the same way that you did, so methinks great minds think alike in that regard. One of my favorite songs is “Heaven is a Place on Earth” by Belinda Carlisle, and the line that has always deeply inspired me the most in it is: “They say in Heaven, love comes first. We’ll make Heaven a place on Earth!” Me, I have always tried to make of my life and the world I live in as much a heaven as possible, whether by helping people, being there for those who need me, sharing my philosophies and beliefs, or just plain by inspiring others or teaching others a better way. It isn’t always an easy road, but with so many great friends (like so many I have met here on DUP and on DeviantArt) and close loved ones (like Zoey and Lilly), it makes things that much easier than it would be otherwise. Love is a powerful thing, and love can really empower a person sometimes! So that part of my poem you quoted both refers to the place I long for, for myself and for those I love, and the desire in my heart to create that place here on Earth as much as one can. But, as the saying goes… no labor when done for love, is ever done in vain. ;)
And, darling Gace, whether in this world or in the next, you will always have a place at my side, and in my heart as well, so fear not! For you are, and ever shall be: very, very dear to me. :)
