Dreams

Throughout your life,
Your dreams will change.
Time and time again,
You'll learn you want something different.

I've had many dreams.
Many things I aspired to do.
I wanted to be a teacher.
A singer or a dancer.
An actress or an artist.
I wanted to tell stories, with words, with pictures, with actions.
And while I would still love to do any of these things,
Right now I only have one dream...

I want to be able to hear the joy in my sisters voice,
As she calls me up on the phone,
Tears in her eyes,
Because she just got the news of a lifetime.
I want to hear her choke out one simple word.
Remission.

Throughout your life,

And all I want right now,
I want my sister back,
