Image for the poem Into The Night

Into The Night

The shadow descending upon the path
Of which I must follow
A jagged road of bodies and wrath
Will I ever reach tomorrow?

The sky is red
The way is dead
At the edge of the Earth
Comes death and rebirth

To venture forth is to sever ties
Among trees long hollowed
The blood congealed as the tears were cried
At a stone's throw from infinite sorrow

I fade into the night
Deep into the abyss
I fade into the night
Where I belong
Is where shadows kiss

The tombs may remain empty and cold
Feel it in my marrow
I care not for your tarnishing gold
When i hear to the song of sparrows

The flesh is gray
At break of day
At the end of the world
I'm broken and torn

I sink into the dark
Deep into the abyss
I sink into the dark
Where I belong
Is where shadows kiss

At the end, I may not be dead
My infinite sorrow
Now place the crown upon my head
As I rule over ghosts of tomorrow

I fade into the night
Deep into the abyss
I fade into the night
Where I belong
Is where shadows kiss

When death consumes
Forthcoming doom
At the end of the Earth
Will I face rebirth?
