Construction's Lament
The more i write the less certain I am
of any status truthfully obtained
for as John and Paul chimed
"there is nothing you can know that isn't known"
For with every word that I have the audacity to share
accompanies the dread
that my mediocre command of language
has missed an opportunity to
craft a composition worthy of the label "poetry"
Tracing the course of human experience
my solace is found in knowing
the pleasure in not the conclusion
but rather the intellectual sweat
of producing words where there was only empty space
Liking the author's preference
that even a harsh rebuke is preferred
to cold indifference
and hoping that no read of my language
is bereft of any value
This is my prayer
my one constant light
the north star
if I don't always follow
may i not be too far off the path
of any status truthfully obtained
for as John and Paul chimed
