I Am Not Property

I am not property
That you can renovate and damage at will
You cannot unload your heavy weight on me
Just because you feel entitled
If you think I'd make good ground to stand on
It doesn't mean you have the right to walk all over
You cannot build your home here
Just because it makes you feel secure
I'm flattered by desires to share space
But expectation is what I take issue with
Please understand that I cannot just be taken
I choose who I want to hold me at night
My time can be rented when I want to invest
But I've never signed rent-to-own agreements
Designated places exist for each occupant
You can't just live where on my land you please
I decide who can look beyond these walls
Who I'll open the door to and welcome in my heart
I'd appreciate if you could accept this
But you have little respect for tinted glass
Just because you're hurting and crave someone to break
I will not allow myself to be smashed
You do not get to tear me down
To feel better about yourself
Plus there is a security code
That you'll never get to now
You've set off my alarm system
And I will not put up with bullshit
It's up to you to take the blame
For mistakes that you have made
And others in your wake
Should not be an excuse for rage
If you pick up one more rock
To throw in my face
I'll rock your world indeed
Shake things up and leave
If I have to, I will do this
Because I'm not property, I am human
Just to clear up any confusion
If you're still living in delusion
