Rich Colombian
I make it instant, make it strong
Just stir it in mindless disregard
Simply need that morning jolt
Not taking the time to savor much of anything
It's all caffeine, no nuance
A blistering sacrifice in taste
Why fucking bother?
Still...
She tells me I'm a moron, a philistine
And, yes, she may have a point
"Try the rich Colombian blend," she insists
"Add real cream, real sugar
None of that artificial crap
Then sip slowly, surely
And learn to enjoy a finer way of life."
I sit and obey
Imbibing this hot, sacred brew
The morning fog finally penetrated
And true clarity achieved at last.

Not taking the time to savor much of anything

This woman is actually you Minerva. I started making my morning instant and thought of your scoldings. I'm a slow learner.

i don't think i ever called you a philistine! maybe a moron, though. :)
i'm flattered you would think of me while imbibing that sacred brew.
now we must get you drinking the good stuff regularly.
(i'll have you swigging bourbon before too long!)

"Deja brew." You're a fine punster, Katja. I do a lot of that myself, most of them pretty feeble, sometimes outright annoying. Thank you!

Moves as fast and smooth as coffee going in and back out again.
"Try the rich Colombian blend," she insists
"Add real cream, real sugar
None of that artificial crap
Then sip slowly, surely
And learn to enjoy a finer way of life."
I sit and obey
Moments that make us pause, are the moments to be slipped into our narration in order to break the emotional state for long enough to wake up and then come back again.

Great insight, man. You have to pause and let them crystalize. When they acquire that shine that's when you get them down.

What's up with all these coffee flavored poems lately? Crowfly, this one is good to the last drop.
