Gethsemane

What prayers you offer
Do not reach the ear of God
When man is tempted to sin
I am the only devil here

Darkness engulfs the starlit night
Casting shadows that devour the light
Men of faith embracing wraiths
Before the vultures take flight

I am the serpent, the tempter
In the house of the lord and lepers
I slither where virgins pine
With shadowed blades on all sides

Pray to His deaf ears
I am what you fear

Here in this garden
Of Gethsemane
I have heard the woes
From titans to Persephone

Jesus spoke against temptation
And salvation came to Him
In the form of an angel
But He did not know that
It had fallen to damnation

And thus the Heavens were praised
In the dawning of a brand new day
Disciples will recycle
Messiahs to pave the way

I am the serpent, once angel
To be beholden in the chapel
But I crawl as devils should
When I knelt from whence He stood

Prayers to dead ears
I am what you fear

Here in this garden
Of Gethsemane
I have heard the woes
From titans to Persephone

Jesus spoke against temptation
And salvation came to Him
In the form of an angel
But He did not know that
It had fallen to damnation

And thus that day
Of crucifixion
When He cried to Heaven
To receive nothing...

Absolutely nothing

     ...and I laughed...
