Half passed one

Robin found the fat and cake
keeps it to himself
the blackbird on the ground
does not stand a chance
so he waits
until the pigeon drops an apple;
co-operation; survival of the kindest.
The feeders for the finches and the tits
just  out of reach,
so he and she, pull worms
From beneath the yew
and seem content, at least today.

The weather turning cold again
my car says six degrees
so I check the water in the bath
Watch them drink
and wash ‘til dusk.
