I too am deep

i too am deep
-In response to A.D. Carson
Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters; they have seen the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep.
Psalms 107:23-24

if you could get in a boat
and physically navigate through my mind,

if you could physically set sail on the waters of my being,

you would see that that the currents of these waters are still.

i’m not trying to make you feel as though you are on the water during a catastrophic hurricane,
storming you with all the moody winds of emotional word play, because that might cause you to put this book down by reasoning of a lack of understanding of my thoughts.
i’m not trying to do too much comparing.
flooding you with too many witty metaphors                          to hype you up because I don’t want you to fall off of the boat due to too much excitement.
i’m not trying to rain down on you too many similes.
and exaggerate the fact that I am as deep as the deepest part of the ocean.
because if I do then out of curiosity,                   curiosity that that we all fall victim to sometimes, you just might dive in my words,                                exploring each and every letter,
Going down.
way into my depths and not be able to handle the pressure.

but what I am trying to do is send you on a voyage.
to a place where life’s slave ships take us away from.
a place where waves won’t crash into you,                  editing your mind,                                       shifting the sails of your soul,                    shattering the body of your boat,                       leaving holes for water to enter your temple
And sink you.
drowning you in thoughts that you yourself didn’t put there in the first place.
a place where you won’t become sea sick.                                   Having to hold back vomit all the time.
because I know you are sick of seeing a land full of dams.
holding the waters of who you are back from flowing endlessly.

i know when you think of deep…and oceans…and depths,
you think of a place where the sun doesn’t shine anymore.
but I’m not trying to blind you.

you see these waters,                                     they are calm,                                            calm, but steady.
never drying up.                                              never deadly.
and when you reach this place you will surely know, because when you step to the edge of the boat and look into these waters…
you will see your own reflection.

i too am deep.

and to think I used to be as shallow as the 7 seas.
combined with society until I realized that divine desired me.
Sincerely.
