Bleeding Through A Blackened Smile

To hide the nature of his heart
he smiles his black tooth grin
He shares the wisdom he's accrued
on the wrong side of sin

He speaks in riddles, writes in rhymes
that hint at all his grief
He sugar coats his words so much
he bleeds out through his teeth

He learned to cover up his pain
he hides his battle scars
He stashes truth behind the lines
and in-between the bars

And of the matter of a soul
he sold it long ago
He traded it for just a spark
so his truth could be shown

He's long been introverted
whereas he seems depressed
He locks himself inside his head
and writes like he's possessed

His life's not an exciting one
he dreams away his days
And though it takes it's toll on him
he knows no other way

He spends most of his time alone
most all he does is think
He tears a hole into his chest
and bleeds it into ink

He knows the time will someday come
when his well will run dry
Then he'll most likely wonder off
into the woods to die
