Gothic Romance Of The Heartbroken
Underneath the moonlit sky
The lovers that were unloved
Wander until the end of time
Doomed in remembrance to the one
Who never loved them back
Romance is gone for so many who seek it
It is such a cruel thing yet it has such the allure
To some it has a delicate loving touch
A honey covered rose thorns and all
But to others like I
The honey is sulfur and the thorns are poison barbs
The rose I once thought I had
Was never alive was always a grim black
At the same time as being deceptively lively
Like the very tease she instilled upon me
I am not the only one whose fate was this
Like a sadistic deed from cupid
The moonlit sky is not one of happiness
But more of a time to weep for solace
Like a Shakespearian play it is so tragic
But it doesn’t seem real it seems too sad
A gothic romance filled with dread
It seems like Hell has come for your heart
Though it wouldn’t be much after what we’ve been through
We are the heartbroken and we are suffering

'It is such a cruel thing yet it has such an allure,' I liked that line. When I was studying Gothic literature, that was my favourite part of it - the combination of desire and disgust brought together in an overwhelming conflict.
