Image for the poem Aphordite Deranged

Aphordite Deranged

Her beauty is preserved in stone
Held strong against the ravages of time
Bitter tears mixed with blood
When wars were waged and poets pine
I curse the gods for their senseless humor

I spied her bathing in meadow streams
Naked and gleaming wet
My heart fluttered until I spent
In throes of madness within a dream

Aphordite, beautiful
And slightly deranged
Aphordite, sacrifice
Ever nightly for her

Madness inducing for mortal eyes
Eating away my mind
While I am just wasting my time
She’s dancing, splendidly, to satyr’s cries

My venus, demean us
Draped myrtle leaves
My venus, condemn us
With your withering gaze

Olympus on the morrow
Must be drenched in sorrow
Souls on the Styx sing of you
Deep within my marrow
For one esteemed and hallow

As sure as the waves crash ashore
Impatient with my plight
Seeking a glimpse of divine light
This eternal hunger, I abhor

I will walk the Cyprus gardens
And carve your name in trees
Gomorrah is the place to be
But I guess we’ll settle for Sodom

Aphordite, deceitful
But delectable
Aphordite, secretive
Won’t you frolic with me?

Olympus on the morrow
Must be drenched in sorrow
Souls on the Styx sing of you
Deep within my marrow
For one esteemed and hallow

Theá, Deleástria
I hear the sirens sing your song
Ares speaks desperately of your kiss

Theá, Deleástria
Here at last when the ships are gone
I long to lick the nectar from your lips

The sweetly smell of apple orchards
Invade our summer dreams
In breath with war time screams
Troy fell with such splendid tortures

Consume the fruit laid bare before me
Your moans shake Tartarus
Hephaestus is seething again
The gods know no delicacies

My venus, demean us
Draped myrtle leaves
My venus, condemn us
With your withering gaze

Olympus on the morrow
Must be drenched in sorrow
Souls on the Styx sing of you
Deep within my marrow
For one esteemed and hallow
