Mythos: Rubies and Diamonds

Reeling from the slap in the face
Of late in the place of disgrace
Feeling like a used piece of meat
Defeat me in seats where I speak
Dwelling, entombed in musty graves
Today, pine away, hands will stay
Peeling skin away like a fruit
In truth, the face grew
By the light of the moon

Awake in twilight hours
The soured sun finally dies
Casting shadows at last
The past deeds fill the eyes
My wretched self unbound
Resounds with the coming thunder
Plunder the burning graves
The days return with hunger

Clawing, desperately, at my eyes
Revive your image in my gaze
Crawling insects that fall
In halls where skin is flayed
In this lasting twilight
Moonlight graces ancient summits
Omit the truth from lies
Defined when angels plummet

Oh, the monsters at the door
Clawing for more and more
Sipping at the lukewarm blood
Defying the will of God

The sad baying of mournful wolves
Retaining their primal instinct
Hungering for the curs
Disturb the ones extinct
Godless become divine
Sublime when they are satisfied
The cries in the starlight
Refine legends of the night

Bury me with ancient mythos
Clawing to the surface
And leave me out in the cold
Existence beyond the grave

Chisel my name in cut stone
On rubies and diamonds
For the sins I won't atone
Burning with the violence

The fire of desire
Burns in my veins again
My lost home now sits on bones
Shells of a broken past
Left behind to remind
That even men can become gods

Die for ritual sacrifice
In eyes of the beholder of truth
Lamenting of the pricks
The spent blood of the book
Written by hands of men
Command commandments for others
Why bother when you sin
Just as bad as your brothers?

Weigh your heart against the damned
Replay choices that were made
The prices that you demand
'Til you're reveling with shades

Now you're becoming like me
Burned on rubies and diamonds
Envisioned as ghosts in trees
Churning with the violence

Bury us with ancient mythos
Clawing to the surface
Just to leave us in the cold
Existence beyond the grave
