She was and still is
scattered petals on the floor
of the ancient church
where she once said I do
she is there today
looking at the altar
with the white cloth
and the chalice
she once sipped wine from that
the sun rays stream through
the coloured glass windows
lighting up her hair
it was once black not grey
in the very same church
she says her goodbye today
to her groom of sixty years
and wait to follow through
she walks out of church in black
as she walked out of it in white
a long time ago.
