See You Soon (short story)

I held her small body in my arms, crying. She was bleeding. So much blood. TOO much blood. I'd helped raised her, cherished her, and loved her for the entirety of her short life, and now she was being taken from me. I'd left her in her room just moments ago and turned the light off, promising to come back and sleep in the bed with her, she had been begging me to stay with her, but i needed a smoke to calm myself down from the events of the past few months.....
Our parents had died, and that had been hard enough. But then strange things started happening. The lights would flicker in the room where they died. I had called an electrician, but he couldn't find anything wrong with the wiring, so I'd chalked it up to the house being old and changed the light bulbs for good measure, though that did little to help the problem.
Stranger still, I always felt like somebody was there with me. Watching over me, and though it often brought me comfort to think it was my parents, the feeling still troubled me.
On another occasion, I had been alone in the house. I had just gotten back from dropping Christine off at school, and it was my day off (I had dropped out of school to take care of my sister), so i was relaxing and taking things slower than usual. I went to the bathroom and turned on my straightener and pulled out my make up, getting ready for the day. i got done getting ready and looked down at my phone, I'd gotten a text from my friend David, asking if I was down to hang out at the park. I replied, "Sure. be there in 20." and put my phone in my pocket. Looking back in the mirror for a final check I jumped. I swear I saw my dad instead of me. I blinked and saw myself again. "It's my mind... That's all... I miss them, it's natural.." I left the house.
These things continued like this for months, until the night of my sister's death, when I got a text from my mother's number while i was tucking her into bed. "See you soon." I figured someone must have gotten my mother's number and had accidentally texted me. "Wrong number" I replied, and went out for a cigarette.
After I had finished the cigarette, I went inside and to Christine's room and turned on the light to find her bleeding on the floor, reaching for me. I dialed 911 and dropped to my knees, cradling her in my arms. Soon after, I heard the sirens outside and the police banging on the door.
I held her small body in my arms, crying. She was bleeding. So much blood. TOO much blood. I'd helped raised her, cherished her, and loved her for the entirety of her short life, and now she was being taken from me. The cops came into the room as she whispered in my ear, her voice sent chills down my spine, it was my mother's... "See you soon."
