Maybe Love
(written for a "10 Lines of Love" contest)
Maybe love is that sick feeling in your stomach
when you look at him. Maybe love is that sick feeling
going away after a while but still you ache to protect
and cherish him. Maybe love is when even after
the exquisite joining of passion you still yearn
for his body and soul to adhere to yours. Maybe love
is learning and adoring every part of him, every flaw
and perfection etched onto the map of your memory.
And finally, maybe love is the way your throat
tightens every time he says he loves you back.

Learning to accept every flaw might be the key, the true test. The rest, the juxtaposition of body and soul, then becomes a little bit sacred. Fine poem, no doubt about it.

That's a beautiful analysis, Crow. Of course I'll shatter it now, as I just find it hard because I always want the passionate phase to continue. I guess we all want that, though. Or maybe not...
