another beginning

i know nothing .
i am a scholar of vast learning,
i have read all the right books,
i have sat at the feet of learned men of great repute,
i have seen the world,  
hobnobbed with the rich and famous,
i can talk for hours on the new physics,
rocket science, philosophy, technology,
history, the death of the novel,
define poetry in precise terms, elaborate on the sutras,
try ask me, there is nothing that is beyond me,
i know nothing,
i know nothing of sitting quietly,
i know not of walking on my own two feet,
i know nothing of sitting quietly, of holding my peace,
i know the versions of the truth,
but i know not the truth,
i can define love,
but i know not love,
i can define myself, my feelings, what makes me tick,
the substance of my being,
but i know not who i am.
i know nothing.
