Life

Life is where you are now, not where you have been
but you don’t know where to end or where to begin
it began from within, live life in ignorance and sin
truth and lies, beautifully disguised, like a twin
watch out for the revanchist, while enjoying that win
‘everyone wants joy and happiness, no one wants pain
but you can’t have a rainbow, without a little rain’
no need to explain, without sacrifice there is no gain

sure enough, some got it tough, others got it tougher
trust, I don’t bluff, since sometimes we all suffer
haters huff and rebuff, show true colors when life is rough
first, fight your way with words and pens, not a Kalashnikov
split between good and evil, like the character of Raskolnikov
no wit, Robin Hood was illegal, his ideas dangerous to the people  

although I write and dramatize, don’t do drama and lies
fake and phony I despise, look back at life and revise
told by the wise, that success befalls him who tries
trials and tribulations, taken by surprise, time to rise
look for light past the snake eyes, dressed in disguise
speak truth, nothing to lose, ain’t writing for no price
the fool follows the New York Times, hoping for better times  
read in between the lines, decode the signs, to grasp the rhymes
