Embraced by Cold Wind

the trumpet of a long awaited dawn
soft like distant breaths of warmth
reaching for and almost touching the lights
from heaven beyond clouds the rays of gold

curled cocoon in rolled blanket
a lonely sigh and vapoured breath
a name called wishing for freedom
from within a mind closed to newness

the trumpet it calls in vain
the brightness shrink and shrivel
acquiescing to the nothingness of desolation
and the heavy velvet curtain falls again

the empty rocking chair rocks
at the corner facing the window
she looks out and wonder
how long she has been there.
