Between the Devil and the Dead
A precipice stretches the distance
Immortality is resistance
Found inside all the lies
When hearts turn to granite this instant
I have grown cold just like your facade
Like a dying god becoming a fraud
Devoted followers realizing
The truth behind their decaying queen
I once said
I will love you
Past the grip of death
And you see
Bury your idol
Between the devil and me
Long lived in the shadow of statues
You have never seen me walk past you
I've seen faces in places
In dark alleys where I pursue you
The seeds lead a trail of my dismay
Just another downpour on rotten days
You slip like a wisp out of my arms
Leaving me lonely to face the storm
So, you see
Persephone
That dead hearts still bleed
Words were said
Inside the shadows
Between the devil and the dead
The path lost
To Elysium
At a heavy cost
Empty needs
When the deals are made
With the devil inside me
Losing faith, dying love
On a trail of pomegranate seeds
Sealing fate in cooling blood
Satisfy the devil inside of me
Where did the time go
When it seems wishes were granted?
And you broke on stones below
When I took you for granite
Fragile but strong
Loved but alone
My hopes were dashed
When you played the part
A stone's throw from my heart
So, you see
Persephone
That dead hearts still bleed
