Needing some help

write about why you like the current president non-stop for 20 minutes straight. Do not lift your pen or pencil up (and yes, physically write this) for any reason. Keep writing and writing. Let you arm cramp. Let your mind go blah blah blah and write those words. Start writing in word salad. Just do it. Set the timer and write for 20 minutes without stoping to think of what to say. Keep pushing your arm to write those damn words! At 20 minutes. Something interesting should be on your page.

That sounded like torture, but things worked out when I changed it to why I don't like the president. Thank you so much for the help!

When writing block comes knocking, the best thing to do is just write. Which sounds completely ridiculous when in context with 'writers block', but its the surest way of breaking it. See an image the strikes you, turn it into words. Hear something that upsets you, write it down, and respond. Touch something that surprises you, turn it into a story. Words just kind of hover in space, ready to be plucked and changed and redirected. We just have to learn to recognize them for what they are.

So try small prompts. Look up words in the dictionary until one inspires you. Look for words, force them from your fingers and the story will take root and bloom.
