The Sea's Release
Following the North Star's gleam
Slowly fading as I dream
Drowsing upon my final sea
That sinking feeling within me
But then I hear the sirens sing
As starboard bells begin to ring
They place upon my head a crown
Its jewels gleaming as I drown
So don't watch for me from midnight's shore
Or listen for me 'midst the ocean's roar
I have found the perfect peace
This rapture in the sea's release.
Slowly fading as I dream
Drowsing upon my final sea
That sinking feeling within me
But then I hear the sirens sing
As starboard bells begin to ring
They place upon my head a crown
Its jewels gleaming as I drown
So don't watch for me from midnight's shore
Or listen for me 'midst the ocean's roar
I have found the perfect peace
This rapture in the sea's release.

Crowfly, this is beautiful! There is such a strong grace and nobility in this. It is still a heavy topic, but this glows with a regal ambiance. Well written! Thank you for sharing your talent in this.

Thanks Lady Crim. Serenity's hard to come by, but I try. I'm going to catch a wave.

Thanks, Katja. I'm going to try to avoid ongoing morbidity. Not doing such a great job so far.

Oh Crow......this is dark beauty......sometimes we drown in glory......find our peace in the depths of despair.......I so relate to this......xo :)

I'm glad you enjoyed, sweet Flower. Death can be seductive. It can be tempting to give in too soon.

Great work, the sea as a living breathing element,as a personification of the soul and inner longing....

Thank you, Le Fay. That's a very insightful comment. I hadn't thought about it quite that way, at least consciously. The sea contains attributes that we place there, romanticizing ideas and dreams in a grand context. It has that kind of mystery.
