Just Never Enough
Part 1
It’s not enough, is it?
It never is, never was and never will be.
Defined by what you are and how you look,
Not by the heart that lies inside,
This damn world judging upon appearances,
Preconceived notions determined by what people see,
It’s FUCKING ridiculous!
So what if I’m a guy?
Don’t categorize me with all those pigs,
The simple-minded, shallow scum that taint your opinions.
It’s not enough to try and be who I am inside…
When you don’t even give me the chance to show you.
You say your past experiences scar your perceptions,
But what of mine?
I’ve had my fair deal of pains and woes,
But I toss them aside when I start anew,
And here I am, giving you a chance when I too
Could categorize you amongst the bitches that tore my heart out.
But I don’t, I don’t let my predetermined skepticisms,
Contaminate my thoughts of you,
So why do you me?
Part 2
This damned society that I beseech,
Judging at every turn and point,
Preying upon my own insecurities.
My eyes cast down with head hung low and still you judge me,
Outcast, lone wolf, goth, emo; names branded upon my existence
By this society that concludes upon what it sees,
Cast aside such preconceptions!
But no one will, for any reason…
Such a society bathed in a fear
Too afraid to see what exists inside.
What they do not know is that I too pass judgment onto them,
But I cast aside such dangerous notions,
But I too fear,
Fear not what lies inside them,
But fear the rejection that may be brought by their judging eyes.
I have a frail heart as well, of which they know not,
And I too have feelings, much like their own.
Which I’m sure is a fact they could have never guessed,
They, too focused on the differences that appear upon the surface,
Are unaware of all the things we share as one, that hide underneath.
It’s not enough, is it?
It never is, never was and never will be.
