A Garden Beyond Winter

- A Garden Beyond Winter -

A sheet of whitest ice coats the ground,
Shining like a state of perpetual moonlight.
No green grass to be seen growing round,
For winter is a season as dark as is night!
Wind blows, snow falls, and frost forms…
As the air turns bitterly cold unto the flesh,
But even the bitterest air, one day warms.
The grass will grow anew, green and fresh!
I miss the tiger lilies in my yard that bloom,
Every: summertime, when the air is hotter.
They remind me of beauty beyond gloom,
And they remind me of one I call daughter.

No matter the icicles that glint and gleam,
Those cold daggers pierce not my heart.
The seasons flow clear, as forest stream…
For they flow together with Nature’s art.
Seasons create years, after their fashion,
And one year soon a fair day shall come.
A new tiger lily, brilliant in all its’ passion,
Shall find its’ way at last unto my home…
To the garden I prepare, for her delights.
Beyond winter, beyond chill, all shall be,
United by summertime’s ever-joyful rites.
That is the season I do most long to see!

Be strong gentle flower, and be blessed,
For my heart calls to thee, across ages…
Beyond time, and distance, it is ever led!
Such love is bound to the fairest pledges,
And cannot be undone by winter’s dark.
The magic of a single tiger lily’s beauty…
Can cause even a divinity’s soul to hark!
Such is the magic that thus enchants me.
It reminds me that winter passes swiftly,
That spring dawns, summer descends…
Bringing loveliness and perfect harmony.
Magic is forever and every winter ends!

The garden will be most beautiful for us,
Beneath vast skies of perfect azure blue!
It will not be oh so very long, and thus…
We shall make our dreams to come true.
