Missing You Last Night

My divine Muse
who I've placed
on the alter of my heart

where have you gone?

I'm blue without you
my mind paces leaving holes
in the remnants of my soul

kudzu vines choke
my inner being
leaving me numb

I wash up on the shore
of empty thought
missing you

grasping for the words to free me
but like a puff of smoke
they vanish into the ether

I try to embrace you
though you have many lovers
who you bless with visions

kiss my soul and fill it with meaning
don't leave me in this lonely place broken

utter your sweet words of wisdom
while I quietly listen
soaking in your giving rays

I kiss your lips gently
tell you you're worth the waiting
