Forgotten Song
we are the new blood
a line that is drawn
forced into brutality
etched within the stone
dying on the altar
screaming with madness
fragments of the living
bestowed upon the dead
razor blades and irony
marks scar my wrists
a scab of anger
tormented deep inside
you drove me to this
blinded by absent words
a code of fiction
imprints my own reality
the mask of ignorance
reflections in my eyes
humbled by a distraction
this rationalized freedom
my hero’s are long gone
erased by the gods
a note on a scale
of a forgotten song
a line that is drawn
forced into brutality
etched within the stone
dying on the altar
screaming with madness
fragments of the living
bestowed upon the dead
razor blades and irony
marks scar my wrists
a scab of anger
tormented deep inside
you drove me to this
blinded by absent words
a code of fiction
imprints my own reality
the mask of ignorance
reflections in my eyes
humbled by a distraction
this rationalized freedom
my hero’s are long gone
erased by the gods
a note on a scale
of a forgotten song

I can feel it. To me, that is true poetry. Enjoyed reading it. I love the dark stuff, personally. Thanks for sharing.

With the subject going from a "we" to "you" and "my", questions arise; just who is a part of the collective "we", and what entity is responsible for "driving you to that"?
The absence of the hero further marks the overall feeling of a person void of any stable presence, like a piece of wood forever drifting out at sea.

Intriguing... A bit adrift as a message, tho it is pertinent throughout. Enjoyable read. Keep Grindin CAOS737
