Sizzles in the Snow
fire burning bright
dancing blue against the snow
bonfire on the ground
heat was cold
mitten hands on cheeks
eyes dreamy looking on
crackling blaze indifferent
to thoughts of days gone by
just sentiments for moments
caught on what has been
or wondering of what ifs
scribbled on fallen logs
fire sizzling on the snow
an arc of patterns
showing the grey soil beneath
dead for a season
a moment of silence
stretched to many cycles
smiles of a day
contentment eternal.
