I Remember

I remember the fun we had
I remember you seemed so glad
Little and long happy talks
Near and far healthy walks
I remember you fixed the bad
I remember you, my granddad

I remember the bubbles and fun
I remember the games I won
Stories that held morals to live by
Smiles that made me want to try
I remember your walk to my run
I remember the camp songs I've sung

I remember how you were there
I remember when you brushed my hair
Warm hugs with no ends
Cheering me through my flips and bends
I remember the smile you'd wear
I remember the way you'd care

I remember the camera that hid your face
I remember how you lived at a steady pace
Laughter was littered around you
Faith that what you said was true
I remember every single camera case
I remember you gave me a special place

I remember the day you were gone
I remember everything felt so wrong
Regret for what I didn't say
Wondering what I let get in the way
I remember listening to the same song
I remember trying to move along

I remember seeing you one last time
I remember thinking on repeat: "I'm fine."
Realizing you're not gone
Believing and praying, I move on
I remember the thin line
I remember the first card you couldn't sign

I remember I got through it all
I remember you wouldn't want me to fall
Old talks and stories to cheer me
Old photographs to see
I remember when I stood tall
I remember better times on my life wall
