Banshee
The banshee wails on the wind
Shrieking her desire to see me dead
Maybe it's something that I've sinned
Maybe it's something that I've bled
That cry echoes in my ears
Her accusations blight my soul
It's condemnation brings on tears
As spectral truths slowly take their toll
This haunting will evermore remain
The manifestation of her curse
Her wild word heard through the rain
And off I go inside the hearse.
Shrieking her desire to see me dead
Maybe it's something that I've sinned
Maybe it's something that I've bled
That cry echoes in my ears
Her accusations blight my soul
It's condemnation brings on tears
As spectral truths slowly take their toll
This haunting will evermore remain
The manifestation of her curse
Her wild word heard through the rain
And off I go inside the hearse.

Banshees are supposed to screech to herald an impending death, right? Don't know much about them, intriguing ink.

I believe so. I must confess I haven't researched this thoroughly. It's pretty much based on what I've seen in movies. Thanks, Atakti.

Sir Crow,
This is a dark write for you, pulled off brilliantly, I love to hear of tales such as these. Great rhythm, looking forward to some more mythical type ink from you.

Lady Muse,
More mythic poems will be forthcoming, as long as I have inspiration such as yours. Meanwhile, I loved "Gypsy Goddess." Thank you, wonderful Lady!

In the dark of the moon..far into the deepest midnight...her keening echoes on the wings of the wind...the sorrowful wailing heralds a loved ones' impending demise...
This piece so surely captures the very essence of this Celtic/Irish legend---un-nerving, to be sure!
Well Scribed!
(And mo Chara....beware the banshee's baleful cry....and take care!!)
Sioch`ain leat!

Robert Johnson's Hellhound on my Trail is what this invokes for me. But so many of us write to run from the reaper. We owe a debt.
