Pain
did he cry in the end
did he shed any tears
was it regret or sorrow
was it genuine grief
no one knew but him
as he threw in the sod
on top of the pine box
six feet below
dead by his own doing
dead by his own deception
one phone call
ended it all
a sultry voice saying
who is this
answering the cell
of the man she loved
triggered the shot
lipstick on his underwear
strange perfume on his hair
bills for drinks they never shared
stamped her page of pain
it tied the noose
it weighed her down
in the deepest end
of her sorrow
they said she drowned herself
but they didn't see her broken heart
did he grief
did he regret
no one knows
but him
as he put the bullet
through his head.
