Dull eyes

Dull eyes shine behind the dark circles
Nights of terror and mishap thoughts
Wring me dry of any fair emotion, leaving empty wounds
and bloated feelings
hair of straw, what was once so fair, has turned thick and callus
these hands used to mold people
shaping them into their true forms
but now they'er wrapped around my throat
feeling for the pulse that they froze
this beast clawing inside me
chewing at my innards, roaring for a little white pill to sate it
blood isn't enough to quiet these growls
flesh is too, heady, for it's taste
it craves the smooth, white, little miracle
the one that leaves me numb
empty, like the tin man,
I too, used to have a heart
trodden on by many but still it beat
like the fists of those ordered to raise me
yet decided to tear me down,
to light the remnants of an unwanted child,
smacking each other on their backs, laughing,
as they piss on the flames
these dull eyes hide more than you know
more than I know,
they hide me.
