Black Sails
FABLES OF THE ETERNAL WATCHER
Through the eons, vast and cold
I have spied kingdoms lustrous with gold
Turned slowly into dust and mold
The steps of palaces crumble
As the king himself, set high tumbles
Great calamities awakes those
Who would rather slumber
I have sought to waste time
To sleep through the rise of His regime
Did not wish to face the slaughter
Of divine sons and daughters
Left to the whims of zealots
Bent on holy destruction
Mankind sheds the blood for an empty God
This is blind, leaving man alone
Human worshipping an icon of fraud
For their sins they cannot atone
Remembering beginnings
When origins still had their meanings
A new world ripe with promises
But soon turned to lawlessness
Left to the whims of god-kings
Handing out their damnation
Humans whispering behind their god's back
Thus are blind in a world alone
Mankind bleeding now set upon the rack
For their sins they cannot atone
I thrive in a place of sorrow
Eyes peeled wide for woes of 'morrow
To face God's distaste
I am your beast
The howling in the hollow
I have paid for betrayal
Languishing in this pit of Hell
To place my disgrace
Upon the plate
Devour my heart
When the black ships set sail
Humans whispering behind their god's back
Thus are blind in a world alone
