Don't Come Back
I was happy today, I shined so bright.
The skies were clear of rain.
Then I spotted your portrait on the vanity;
my heart grew numb with pain.
Oh, tell me why I left it there!
Oh, why was I so vain?
To think I would not care to see
your haunting face again.
I want you gone, I want you gone.
I want my tea and scones.
I want my books and my solitude,
oh, please leave me alone.
For Life is sweet when I’m to myself,
alone is when I’m sane.
I’m fine without you, I implore you, dear,
please don’t come back again.
The skies were clear of rain.
Then I spotted your portrait on the vanity;
my heart grew numb with pain.
