(Weird) People

The family gets out of the car.
Mother wearing a biker jacket.
Husband, or older son?
Younger daughter wrapped in a giraffe print snuggie.
And a little son trailing behind.

What did I just see?

Family of four gets out next to me.
Hipster husband.
Grouchy looking wife.
Hyper son, goes wrong way--
Turns, then follows his parents.
Twin daughters.
One with short hair.
One with long hair.
Both wearing the same colored jackets.

So much for being your own person.
I would never do that if I had twins.
You may quote me on that...

Putting my son in a carriage at the grocery store.
Two emotionless hipsters walk in.
Wearing black, long coats, rectangular glasses.
Push pass us, get a carriage and walk away.
Too strict. Too emotionless. Too uniform.

Leaving the store.
A girl on a electric wheelchair.
Wearing a little black dress.
Smiles at me, with bright red lipstick.
Her black hair tucked under a pair of mouse ears.
As she says hi and keeps going.
Rolling by. . .

And now I'm at home.
Remembering all of the (odd) people.
All the (weird) people, that I saw today.

Subjects in my obeservations.
Subjects in my poems.
Caught by my critical poet's eye.
For me to document down, for me to write.

All those weird people.
And the fragments of their weird lives.
