My Toybox (Him)

My big toy box is just fantastic
It’s red and blue and made of plastic
It’s full of all my favourite stuff
Guns that pop and trains that puff
Bats and balls, a teddy bear
Plastic soldiers with plastic hair
Cars with lights, planes that fly
A jack in the box that says bye bye

My green toy box is really cool
Swiss army knife with all the tools
Pictures of my favourite stars
Model planes and model cars
A baseball glove, a baseball bat
Some baseball cards, a baseball hat
Karate suit and kicking pads
A porno mag that was my Dads

My black toy box is so well hidden
Entry by anyone, definitely forbidden
Throwing knifes and kung fu stars
All the tools for stealing cars
A bag of smack, an eighth of dope
Vallium tabs to help me cope
CD’s of my hero Fifty Cent
A suicide note I never meant

My wooden toy box is old and broken
A photo of her, a fairground token
A program from that famous match
An osprey’s egg that never hatched
Membership card for the senior singles club
Ash tray and beer mats stolen from the pub
A letter from my daughter who I cannot forgive
A note from my doctor, you’ve got six months to live

My last toy box, surrounded by candles
Is made of wood with four brass handles
In there I lie smartly dressed
My mother would be so impressed
Of all this is my favourite box
A journey’s end where no one mocks
It takes me to where I want to be
Divorcing myself from life’s misery
