A Good Night

We both agreed the bars were not for us.

We turned down a street sheltered from
the noise, the tour groups, the bad music
into a maze of yellow, orange, and pink plastered walls
haunting in night as vibrant in day,
a long memory in the past-

Our hands frozen
Our mouths closed,

Adobe relics passing in front of our eyes...

and she said(blurted):

"If only I had met you in another life"

and we walked until the the last streetlamp
had long ago burnt out

and she blurted(said):

"Wait with me for my taxi here"

"I've heard its dangerous to walk alone here"
"Someone was stabbed in the chest the other night;
her heart was punctured"
