Judge a book by its cover

Excuse me sir, could I ask you a question??
Have you heard either of these sayings "don't judge a book by it's cover" or "appearances can be deceiving"
These aren't just meaningless ways of expression.
You should realize that there is real truth to these words.
That sometimes a pretty girl can be very misleading.

Just because I was dressed professional and girly,
Does not mean that I am high maintenance and afraid to get down n dirty.

Or perhaps you mistook the fact that I am a bit curvy, for being weak and unable to complete task for someone who is built stalky an sturdy.

I guess you didn't see my eyes brighten up like an LED flashlight,
When I found out I would get to hang from the side of a moving train at times day and Night!

Given the chance I could have told you I was more then
willing an capable of this act.
That years of show skiing, softball, and home care; were training tools for balance and strength and I could've executed each with ease, in fact.

I bet you also missed the grin sneaking across my face,
When you spoke of trudging through snow up to your knees, temperatures so cold your sweat froze in place.

It's adventures like those that keep me young an alive, the stories of Gary, IN or being stuck in the middle of the woods with little eyes aIl around.  That didn't scare me at all, I honestly chuckled to myself.  You see I am a woman of resource, I am always prepared, a strong will to survive.

Which you probably could have guessed, since I had three knives hidden on me today, one in the small of my back, one on my right hip, and one tucked unnoticed between my rack.
Maybe if your eyes wouldn't have been fixed on my ass you would have seen at least one weapon I had hidden incase of self defense or aggravated attack.

Something else that I didn't get to share is my mechanical abilities, oil changes, water pumps, and brakes to name a few. I even know the difference between air sockets an standard, I bet if I didn't look this way, you would've have been impressed by the things I knew.

Oh and of course what I am sure was your final decision making factor, you didn't think I would be able to carry an 80lb knuckle 90 cars away, but had you given me the time of day I could have shared with you that I used to lift people for a living even sorted dead bodies after 9/11.

The moral of this story is that I am smart, talented, and a hard worker who could've have met every physical demand, but instead you looked at me as a pretty, weak, an inadequate competitor, which unfortunately caused you to lose a fabulous potential conductor. All because you made a uniformed decision to judge a book by it's unrevealing cover.
