An Escaped Horror

She has a nightmare and wakes up from sleep
Sweat all over her, her hear t quickly racing
Beating fast, now she’s panting
The darkness in the room giving her the creeps

She steps into her flip-flops and heads for the bathroom
Hoping to wash off from her face the scare
Lights now on
In the mirror she stares
She can’t shake it; she can still feel the gloom

Thunder claps
It’s raining cats and dogs
Crickets chirping, unwelcomed croaking of frogs
Her fears become intense, she’s gonna snap

The door squeaks,
She hears thudding on the window
Her heart skips
She can’t see what’s outside the window

Power is getting unstable
Light flashing intermittently
Black-out finally
She now trembles
She heads for her bed
Hoping to sleep and not wake up till morning
Lights now on
She sees a masked man in a hoodie , staring
With a sickle in hand, coloured in red

She screams
He grabs her
He tries to gut her
She wakes up; t’was just a dream.
