The War Continues

Sand sand all around,
This desert heat beating down.
Coming up I see a village in the distance,
Silent and dead, something doesn't feel right.
I feel my breath slow, my heart race,
My enemy is near, hiding someplace.
I feel his gaze fixed on me,
My rifle trained, my hand steady.
I fire, time slows as the shot rings out,
The battle starts, now there are dozens.
All of them striving for one goal,
But we are skilled watching them fall one by one.
More arrive, we fall back,
Repositioned my brothers call upon me to signal an attack.
Like an angel i call up to God to help me defeat this threat,
My wish is answered as a thunderous noise erupts from the sky.
The ground trembles as the bombs fall to earth,
Waste lay everywhere, where my enemy now lies.
I give thanks to be alive and our battle is won ,
May my enemy meet his sins in heaven.
But my job is not done, many more still stand,
Those who are left shall fall by my hand.
To join their brothers in Heaven to face Him,
I fight for those who can not fight for themselves.
Lay your burden on me, that is why i am here,
To defend what is right and just.
No matter the cost i must.
