Black Rose Fading

- Black Rose Fading -

I cry when no one is so looking…
I weep when no one is listening.
Where once was love, touching,
Now do fall only tears glistening.
I am a black rose, fading in sorrow,
Pining for the kiss of a new morrow.
Dreaming in the winter, of the spring,
For, I am an angel, with broken wings.

Beloved, whither have I come as one bidden,
Into the dreaming, that I see such a goddess?
Mine eyes must be anointed to see the hidden,
Journeying deeper, longing for a hot caress…
As I lay back, my thoughts upon thy beauty.
Beyond gardens of lilies, and rose blossoms,
Past Sakura trees that bloom pink and lovely…
I behold thee in visions, and find it awesome:
A sight beyond compare; timeless perfection!
Must I wake once more to a life so lonesome?
Without thee I am naught, without direction…
A lost soul seeking, a warrior queen undone:
Adrift on seas torrential and very frightening,
Wishing for thy hand to warm me with heat.
Winter is too harsh without thee to so bring,
The summer’s warm love, to wash upon me!
Who am I anymore, wither am I thus bound?
I remember but faintly, and then I see light…
Beyond the sorrow that pins me to the ground,
And besets me, with the sting of frost’s bite.
That vision of thee, it is enough to melt ice,
And thaw the coldness that gnaws on my soul.
Where art thou, maiden, so fair and so nice?
I need thy tenderness, to my heart so console.

Glimpses of memories that come and depart,
Of thy raven hair and eyes deep as the void…
How they haunt me, calling to me with an art:
Like no other magic, and naught I canst hide.
Nor wouldst I wish to hide from, in all truth!
Tell me thy name; tell me where thou may be,
And let me be thy own, and so never to lose…
Sight: of such loveliness, that mine eyes see.
Without thee, the world couldst pass away…
Sweeping me off with it into a dark oblivion!
But with thee, I canst face yet another day…
And know that I am right in my convictions.
So many lives I saw thy end, and my doom,
And the gods torment me, by remembrance.
Why is the winter so filled with gray gloom?
Where is the spring in which I might dance!
The grass, and flowers, the things I adore…
In the winter they seem to be like unto dead.
Oh beloved, come to me soon in love more,
More splendid than white of snow or red…
Of autumn’s colors, which art pale ghosts!
Mere phantoms, compared to love’s glory.
I am like a flower, and one who so knows,
That I will fade, without love’s nourishing.

Love is like water of life, to a divine spirit!
I pine for thy touch, beloved, for thy kiss…
Because loneliness is my bane, I do fear it,
Because it is void bereft of any bright bliss.
I clutch a black rose to my breast and weep,
Letting the thorns bite into my very flesh…
As dreams of love, into my mind do creep.
From them, I do not want to awaken fresh,
Because what is this world without passion?
It is as dead as the trees bereft of all leaves.
What is this world without love’s fashion?
A dirge, a lost girl who in silence grieves…
I am that girl, weeping in my dark solitude.
My passion still burns, but all hereabouts…
Is bereft of light, a world rough and crude!
Come to me soon; ease my spirit’s doubts.
Let not the morning sun find me perished,
If I must fade before my dear soul’s mate…
Canst come unto me and see me cherished.
Love is life to me; let it not come too late!
