Gratitude

Blood runs within me, cells and chromosomes
Truthfully, I think of you as my own
As close as the wind blowing thru this house
That we have now made a home
I sit in this room listening
Sinking, shredding on the inside
As yu sob for your father
Whose not hear, you miss him
I hear it in every tear

In some distant black hole
Some time warp away
You will be standing face to face
Those tears will have dried
Smiles will ensue
For all the years he's been,
Without you

The tiny seconds I share with you
Looking down as your shining eyes
Telling me stories of
What your day was like
Listening to jokes you heard from school
Searching for videos on youtube

I gather memories, to lock and keep
For, Once your hero returns
Our relationship, will begin to fade
But thank You
With all my Gratitude
As a friend, guardian
Or whatever I can be
I'm here for you as much
As you allow me to be
Pray I can see you grow
Still be apart of your life
Even if I'm in hindsight.
