Stolen Innocence

She was little, 3 years of age
Vibrant she was, always loved to play
A jewel she was to her family
The apple of her dad’s eye
Ever smiling, ever happy.

Evil lurked around her niche
Waiting of the right moment to strike
Just a little distance out of watch
And it will pounce on her.

The sun arose from the depth of the eastern horizon
Journeying through the sky in its splendor
What a promising day, she thought
Not knowing the darkness that hid behind the shadows.

She was now alone
Picking flowers to adorn her hair
La, la, la, she sang, rollicking around the garden
She heard a sound, she stopped her singing
She drew closer, dreadful hands caught her.

He covered her mouth with his hand
She couldn’t shout
He forced himself on her
He stole her innocence.

It didn’t last long
He was caught
Badly beaten yet not enough to undo the damage he had done
For her innocence was already stolen
And she’d live with it all her life.
