Loving A Broken Man

It takes strength to love a broken man
To listen and learn of things you don't understand

To comfort his tears when you're ashamed of your own
To let love melt your frigid heart of stone

It takes patience to love a broken man
To be there and try to heal him if you can

To heave burning cries on so many sleepless nights
In despair that you will always lose your fight

It takes fire to love a broken man
To embrace him and kiss him in weary hands

To ignore the empty shell you've become
Filling it with erotic moments of coming undone

It takes surrender to love a broken man
To explain and fume in what he won't understand

To sway yet stay planted in who you are
Not just a broken girl needing him to heal her scars

It takes selfishness to leave a broken soul
Self preservation to find your pieces of the whole

To have faith that whats meant to be will come
And people will rise and fall like the seasonal sun
